Project Overview:

Tailored Air Limited was engaged to deliver the installation of new comfort cooling and ventilation systems for a well-known hotel chain on behalf of one of our long-standing clients. The project formed part of a wider refurbishment programme and required careful planning to ensure minimal disruption to hotel operations and guests.

The scope included the installation of multiple Samsung VRF systems serving guest and public areas, the delivery of new dirty extract ventilation systems, and modifications to

existing systems within refurbished spaces. All works were completed while maintaining full hotel operations throughout.

Project Scope:

Installation of 5 Samsung VRF systems serving 85 fan coil units (FCUs)
Installation of all associated secondary ductwork and air distribution grilles
Installation of dirty extract ventilation systems serving designated hotel areas
Removal and reinstallation of systems to suit revised layouts
PPM servicing of an existing Toshiba VRF system within the newly refurbished bar area
Phased delivery across three stages to minimize customer and guest disruption
Integration of all systems with three central controllers, fully scheduled and configured

Key Challenges:

This project presented several logistical and technical challenges:
Live hotel environment: All works were carried out while the hotel remained operational, requiring strict control of noise, access and programme.
Restricted access: Limited access routes and constrained plant areas complicated installation works.
Complex pipework routes: Careful coordination was required to accommodate new services within existing building fabric.
Fast turnaround: Tight programme requirements demanded efficient sequencing and disciplined delivery.

System Set-Up & Commissioning:

Following installation, Tailored Air carried out full system set-up, testing and commissioning across all VRF and ventilation systems.

Commissioning activities included verification of pipework integrity, refrigerant charge checks, system addressing, airflow verification, controls configuration and full functional testing. Each system was programmed in line with the hotel’s operational requirements, with schedules and permissions configured to optimize performance while preventing unnecessary user error.

The successful commissioning process ensured all systems were operating efficiently, reliably and ready for immediate use upon handover.
